Growing up with a longing to explore the world, Tanya Goltz left her small country hometown at 15. Now armed with insights after giving in to a serious case of wanderlust, suffering heartbreak, falling hard in love and experiencing the triumphs and heartaches of working as a social worker, Goltz non apologetically addresses love, loss and empowerment in her upcoming EP, Pieces of Me.

With its telling title - Pieces of Me is a collection of lived experience and stories witnessed through the artists life journey to date. Featuring three tracks self-penned, with an additional two tracks from Nashville songwriters, Goltz is proud of her debut offering. “I wanted to make sure that my own unique voice was featured, in addition to the two other incredible songs that I chose for the project. The minute I heard the other tracks, I just knew that they were meant for me” Goltz says.

The debut single Sketches, released in March 2022 – is a contemporary pop track with rock, roots and country undertones and addresses the bittersweet feeling of almost love featuring Goltz’s velvet voice transporting you right into the moment that love slips away. Gaining radio play on 98.9 Triple A, 4zzz and numerous community radio stations Australia wide, Goltz was blown away by the response to her debut offering.

The next single ‘Steal my Soul’ written by Goltz is due for release on the 20th of January 2023 and confronts the nay-sayers head on with a gritty rock foundation, supporting an empowerment theme that is a tribute to anyone has experienced adversity, discrimination or disregard; due to their personal choices, identity or values. When discussing inspiration for the track Goltz says “I’m not someone who fits in with the crowd and this EP is a clear reflection of that. I was consistently told that I would need to change how I look, how I sing, act and write. And while that held me back for a long time, I have come to realise that being me is the truest and only way forward” Goltz says.

The releases are part of a 5 track EP which was recorded at Red Engine Recording with Aria and award-winning producers, Steve James and Andrew Cochrane. “Stepping into such an incredible studio to share and shape my songs, with such experienced and internationally renowned producers, was such an overwhelming but gratifying experience. Every day I wake up and feel incredibly lucky to be on this journey”.

Influenced by the likes of Jewel, Brandi Carlile, Lyn Bowtell, Ashley Monroe and Sheryl Crow; Pieces of Me deftly combines sounds of rock, alternative country, folk and blues with a distinct retro undertone. The undeniable stand out is Goltz’s velvet yet indomitable voice that features so uniquely on each track. Encompassing an impressive dynamic range, Goltz gives you chills on chills from her sultry low register all the way to her gutsy belts.

This debut EP truly represents pieces of the artists musical and personal journey to date, delivering a finished product that refuses to conform to a specific genre or fit into a preconceived box. “I write and perform music based on emotion, not based on genre. I just go where the music and mood takes me. I guess I will always walk my own path and I see music as the perfect way to communicate that”.

Having co-written with award winning artists such as Lyn Bowtell, Mike Carr and David Carter in addition to Australian author and singer-songwriter Pip Drysdale and producer Adrian Hannan, Goltz is already planning her next project.  "I really want to continue to grow as an artist and improve my capacity as a writer. My goal is to create and share songs that connect and resonate with my audience and the best way to do that is to keep writing. I have already started working on songs for my next project and I'm really excited for what the next 12 months will bring"
